Podcasts from Reporting Accounts

We have now launched our own podcast channel, there is so much corporate news coming out, it makes sense to broadcast this using a podcast format, podcasting is a great concept, we combine a voice over with our own video material and some background music to set the scene.  The end result something like a piece TV journalism.

We are new to this area so it will take us a little time to get to the standard we would like, but nevertheless we have made a start and that is the important thing.

Having researched a little into this area we can see there is both interest from our users and the potential to build subscribers up, so in something like the way an email list can be used to market our messages, so a podcast can do the same.

In our very first podcast I talk about the difficult time the UK has been through with the Covid pandemic and how we are beginning to see the impact of this coming through in the reports and accounts that are being filed with Companies house, who provide the majority of our data at this time.

Sadly the impact is very significant and even with the huge amounts of Government support being provided to the economy, there are going to be very many insolvencies as a result.

Our aim with these podcasts, is to present corporate news in a positive way, and to share newsworthy stories that we pick up on a daily basis, our blog has been our method of choice for the promotion of these to date, but it doesn't have the human touch in the same way that a podcast type of message does.

Our podcast channel

We are using Anchor the great podcast platform, what we like about their service is that it is easy to use and automatically promotes our content across a range of popular platforms.  Our channel can be seen there.  Anchor publishes our content on Google Podcasts.

Our Google podcast channel can be found here.  Google of course dominates the internet in the UK, so it makes sense to publish our content there, we are however looking carefully at itunes as that is another great channel, that of course then gives access to the huge base of users who have iphones, ipads and other apple devices.

Once we have professionalised our channel better, we will explore these options in more detail, meanwhile we have made a start and Google is a great place to do just that!.

There are many other niche places it seems where podcasting can be used to leverage our coverage, we will try each of these and see which works best, as the business users is somewhat a different target audience from say music related channels.

That said Anchor have already syndicated our content across to Spotify, which is a huge brand in itself, sadly there doesn't seem to be a link to our website, but that maybe something we can resolve as we get more experience in this area.

The same applies to Spotify. We really see a lot of potential in this approach, its a great way to get traction and attention for our product and service, and at the same time a fun way to promote and be involved in a growing marketing and professional niche area also.

Our Spotify channel looks like this, again its early days, but hopefully we will gain at least some traction through their channel as well.   It is an exciting challenge if nothing else.

We have some more media promotion planned for 2021, but before we push on with that we are working to further professionalise our website so we have more value added content to share with our customers,  currently a lot of listings have only partial content, which we are aware of and are working hard to improve.

Hopefully 2021 will see not only a better site but a far better level of engagement with our customers than we have achieved previously.  Another great channel is Breaker, you can find our content here also, we are currently trialling a selection of different platforms to find the one or ones that best match our content and niche.

Podomatic is well worth looking at it has a strong following and a great Domain Authority score, plus it has a community where you can follow and like podcasts as you go along.  We are hopefully this will become a winning channel for Reporting Accounts.

There are a number of new ones we plan to try out over the coming months, we'll update our blog with the progress we make, meaning make sure you listen to our podcasts and keep up with our progress.

We plan to add our podcasts to itunes in the near future which should give them a real boost due to its strong presence in the podcast sector.

I've progressed further since starting this post, and now our content features on some additional and impressive locations.  We now feature on Amazon Music which has a very strong brand presence.  I've created an account on itunes also, but are waiting to figure out how to use their episode link feature first, as I have noticed there are no links back to the authors sites other than by using that option.

Another service we are signed up to are Podcasts, these seem to have a nice clean site, with a friendly Director where new podcasts feature almost on their home page, which is a great compared to a lot of these places, where new podcasts seem almost to be orphan pages.

Podcasts does have a nice look and feel to it, and for me that is important.

We are using our down time during this epidemic effectively and using the additional time we have available to develop and promote Reporting accounts in the most productive way we can.

I am certainly already a fan of podcasting, it works very well for us, as there are huge numbers of financial and business stories that we can cover each day, and as we have 4.8million companies in our database we can always link through to a detailed page related to the story in the media.

We are also feature on Soundcloud I have an account  with a few personal favourites in which I have used to upload a couple of our recent podcasts to. It will be interesting to see if these get traction on what is basically a music site for people to collect their own tracks and get music that matches their tasts presented to them.

Reading through the forums, it does seem however that podcasters do have success using soundcloud , so with that in mind I'll keep an eye on this channel also and see if it develops.

There is a lot of potential and different ways to leverage podcasts, which I'll report back on this blog as I make progress. Looking around the internet we can see that podcasting has been a very positive method of building followers and customers and its a great way to get your mesasge out to new and existing customers.   We are investing time each week at the moment into this area.

I've begun to promote these channels but currenty only using our social media accounts and ocassional articles in places such as Medium.com, hopefully as the 2021 develops we can market these more significantly.

Meanwhile  lets all hope that 2021 is a good year for all.
